My Gap Year
Volunteering in Tanzania
For three months I lived in Tanzania where I was put in a team of ten people, and we moved around the country building classrooms and learning resources, teaching in special need schools, and worked for the government. I was also lucky enough to climb Kilimanjaro in 5 days when the opportunity arose.
Working in Greece
For two summer seasons I worked in Greece as a sailing instructor. This was a great way to improve on my people skills and having the responsibility to manage a large number of people, often in testing conditions.
Working as a Carer in the UK
For three months I worked as a carer, more specifically working in the palliative care departments of Old Peoples Homes and hospitals. This was an emotionally testing period of my life, but taught me life long lessons of being able to working with others, and for individuals who are completely reliant on your help.
